Yooo... I really think the event was a nice moment to engage our community. You guys could have a glance of a bright future we could have if @Qwahchees make the right decisions towards the future of the server. My main concern about the event is that it was really messy in terms of what/when/how. If you check the #Event room in Discord, you won't understand what was, would or are going to happen, neither in short, medium or long terms in a time perspective. I am online all day checking discord, so I kind of knew what was going to happen, but I admit even I was kind of confused in the end. Now think about who just hopes on Game/Discord for a couple hours after 8 hours of Work, they did not have a clue of what was going on, since the info was spread along over a hundred of messages.
1st. I would create two separated channels to handle event stuff; one to gather Feedback: expose the staff’s ideas and collect feedback for it or gather new from the community with a set window, from 15 – 7 days before the actual event.
For example: St Patrick’s Day Event Feedback Channel; the St Patrick day is day 03/17, so you guys should have this channel up until tops 03/09 and announce it on the other channel, the real event where only GM and Developer can write and not a single message besides the Event Announcement would be there.
It would benefit people who just hopes on discord from time to time to always know what/when/how about the game and feel a sense of engagement of the community. I understand how it could be so problematic for the GM’s to handle that unexpected amount of people, I didn’t expect so many people to come too. They didn’t have the tool in their hands for that. That’s why it’s important to have clear and proper goals towards events, so you could set things up for things go smoother.
Think about the following scenario: People would give their names and GM’s would have a list of everything that did pretend to attend the event a couple days before, maybe by signing their name in our forum, discord or even a random site? They would have an idea of how many people would come and do the preparations for that. Expecting 30? Have their names? It’s easy to draw who is going to play where. I would say they were really champs to do everything right before, it needed some real effort.
2nd. I would split the events in Big Events and Random events (Along with HOT and FM), the Big Events would be like the St. Patrick’s, which needs manwork of many of the staff members, but these would be kind of different and would occur at random times as @Qwahchees or any GM wishes… Back in MSP, a GM would randomly log in, create a room and do a Teamplay… Everybody who played in that game would win something… Just completely random, elements, pets, code, gf… Seriously, about anything, I just do not know how it would be implemented, but it was rare, but fun when it happened. To do not mess much with our economy, I would say x3 elements of 1 day, maybe would be a cool prize, since it can’t be recharged and after one day all were be gone. Create random featured modes, like, for two hours from now, symbol will give X/Y code and elements (A huge improvement), so we would log in the game and see rooms to actually play instead of just survival mode.
Well, I am super sorry to write so much again, so I will stop by 2nd this time around. Huge props for the staff for doing stuff for us, If I didn't make it clear, I had fun tonight!
